Dalam proses pewarnaan batik digunakan bahan pengental dan pengikat warna yang biasanya menggunakan bahan yang diimpor. Bahan serupa dapat diproduksi dari alginat yang sumber bahan bakunya melimpah di Indonesia, yaitu rumput laut coklat seperti Sargassum dan Turbinaria. Pemanfaatan alginat dari rumput laut untuk bahan pengental dan pengikat warna batik ini sekaligus dapat meningkatkan nilai tambah komoditi rumput laut dan nilai tambah tersebut dapat dinikmati di dalam negeri. Selain itu, penggunaan produk inovasi ini juga dapat dijadikan upaya untuk mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap produk impor.
PERSPEKTIF
Alginat sebagai pengental pencapan tekstil menggunakan bahan baku rumput laut coklat yang tersedia melimpah di Indonesia. Peluang pemakaian alginat ini sangat tinggi, selain itu bahan baku murah dan melimpah.KEUNGGULAN INOVASI

POTENSI APLIKASI
Di Indonesia batik sudah merupakan pakaian resmi bahkan pakaian wajib bagi pegawai swasta maupun negeri, sehingga industri pembuatan batik akan semakin bertambah. Selama ini bahan atau media pewarna batik masih diimpor karena belum bisa dipenuhi dalam negeri, sehingga peluang pemakaian alginat ini sangat tinggi, selain itu bahan baku murah dan melimpah.

Although the term refers specifically to fish, in practice it is extended to cover any aquatic organisms harvested for commercial purposes, whether caught in wild fisheries or harvested from aquaculture or fish farming.
Fish processing can be subdivided into fish handling, which is the preliminary processing of raw fish, and the manufacture of fish products. Another natural subdivision is into primary processing involved in the filleting and freezing of fresh fish for onward distribution to fresh fish retail and catering outlets, and the secondary processing that produces chilled, frozen and canned products for the retail and catering trades.
