Alih Teknologi Pengolahan Pindang Higienis, telah diselenggarakan oleh tim IPTEKMAS BBP4BKP pada tanggal 3 Desember 2013 di gedung serba guna PPN Palabuhanratu. Acara ini merupakan rangkaian acara IPTEKMAS (Model Penerapan IPTEK) pengolahan pindang tahun 2013. Acara dibuka oleh Kepala Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Kabupaten Sukabumi, Ir.Hj. Dedeh Herlina, MSi. Dalam paparannya, Kepala Dinas KP Kabupaten Sukabumi menjelaskan bahwa saat ini faktor kebersihan atau higienitas merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan oleh pengolah.
Setiap langkah dalam proses produksi harus memperhatikan faktor higienitas tersebut sehingga dapat dihasilkan produk yang sehat, bermutu dan aman untuk dikonsumsi. Di antara faktor-faktor tersebut adalah pemilihan bahan baku ikan harus teliti dan dipastikan benar bahwa ikan yang akan diolah dalam keadaan segar. Selain itu penggunaan kertas buku telepon untuk membungkus pindang tidak boleh dilakukan, sehingga pengolah harus menggunakan kertas pembungkus lain yang aman.Di akhir tahap pengolahan, para pengolah diharapkan memiliki kemampuan untuk berkreasi dan berinovasi dalam mengemas produknya sehingga daya awetnya lebih lama dan lebih menarik bagi konsumen.

Although the term refers specifically to fish, in practice it is extended to cover any aquatic organisms harvested for commercial purposes, whether caught in wild fisheries or harvested from aquaculture or fish farming.
Fish processing can be subdivided into fish handling, which is the preliminary processing of raw fish, and the manufacture of fish products. Another natural subdivision is into primary processing involved in the filleting and freezing of fresh fish for onward distribution to fresh fish retail and catering outlets, and the secondary processing that produces chilled, frozen and canned products for the retail and catering trades.
